Our Workplace Giving program

Creating better futures through education

Making small, regular donations to The Smith Family through Workplace Giving is an easy way to help young Australians impacted by poverty.

Employees control how much they give from each pay, and all donations are pre-tax, effectively reducing their taxable income. They can choose to donate a set amount to support the education of children in need, or for around $1.90 a day, they can even sponsor the education of an individual child.

In addition, employers like you can decide to match their employee’s donations dollar for dollar – effectively doubling the combined impact. Best of all, these valuable donations will help support the education of more young Australians in need – empowering them to create better futures for themselves.

Why your help matters

Every child should have the opportunity to change their future. But for 1.2 million young Australians, poverty stands in the way.

Through no fault of their own, children growing up with disadvantage face daily challenges that can prevent them from achieving all they’re capable of.

The risk factors that lead to educational inequality can begin in a child’s early years and continue throughout school. Without the right support at the right time, the effects can be long-term and intergenerational.

Education provides a pathway out of poverty – empowering future generations of young Australians.

Benefits of Workplace Giving for employees

Through Workplace Giving, employees can make their working week a whole lot sweeter.

Benefits:

  • Being able to make donations pre-tax gives employees an immediate tax benefit.
  • Workplace Giving is taken care of by each organisation's Payroll team, so there’s no ongoing administration for individual employees.
  • Not only do employees get the chance to help young Australians impacted by poverty every time they get paid, but they will also contribute to a more inclusive society.

Two ways to donate through Workplace Giving

Every single donation, no matter the size, helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to keep up and fit in at school.

Employees can choose to donate a little from each pay to support the education of children in need. The amount they choose to donate is completely up to them.

Or for around $1.90 a day, they can even sponsor the education of an individual child through our Learning for Life program. This equates to $13.39 per week, $26.77 per fortnight or $58 per month.

Learning for Life provides students with a proven combination of financial, personal and practical support, enabling young people to harness their education and pursue their dreams.
